Swimming with whales off the Gold Coast costs from US$313 per person, the price GetYourGuide showed for Cooly Eco Adventures’ 4-hour swim from Chinderah in October 2026. That is the top of the local whale market by some distance: the whale-watching cruises on the same stretch of coast run from US$62 to US$104. What the extra buys is time in the water with an in-water guide, a small group and a slower, more patient search for a whale that will stay.
What the US$313 covers
The listing includes a qualified skipper and crew, an experienced in-water guide, and commentary on the whales, other wildlife and the area’s Australian, Aboriginal and European history. Cooly’s own booking page adds the gear: masks, fins, snorkels and wetsuits. The trip runs 4 hours, starting with a 30-minute safety briefing at Chinderah.
Not included: hotel pickup and drop-off, food, drinks and the video highlight package. Bring water, and eat before you go if you are prone to seasickness.

Is the swim worth the difference?
For a confident swimmer who wants to be in the water with a humpback, it is the only way to do it on this coast, and its reviewers are almost all five-star. For anyone whose goal is simply to see whales, it is a lot of money for something a US$69 cruise does well. Kokomo Cruises’ cruise is rated 4.9 from 170 reviews, and its reviewers describe breaches, mothers with calves and dolphins.

Sunreef’s 4-hour cruise and swim from Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast has only 6 reviews there, averaging 1.9. Both are hours north of the Gold Coast.
